Toronto is situated on the traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples. The region has been a gathering place for diverse Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island, and the city continues to be home to many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis individuals today.
We acknowledge the resilience and strength of Indigenous peoples who have maintained their cultures, languages, and traditions in the face of adversity. The New Face of Inclusion Summit is committed to understanding our role in the ongoing process of reconciliation, and to actively promoting justice and inclusivity in our work.
As we engage in conversations about inclusion and diversity, we recognize the importance of addressing the historical and ongoing impact of colonization on Indigenous communities. We are dedicated to fostering a spirit of collaboration and understanding, and to working towards a future that honors and respects the unique perspectives, experiences, and contributions of Indigenous peoples.
In this spirit, we invite all attendees and participants of The New Face of Inclusion Summit to join us in acknowledging the ancestral lands on which we meet, and to commit to the ongoing process of learning, listening, and engaging with Indigenous communities as we work together towards a more inclusive and equitable future.
